In the midst of this pandemic, hearing constant Covid news
Irritating buzzwords are creeping into use
Go hard, go early, crush the curve, halt the virus spread
Social distance, stay indoors, work from home instead
Close the bars and restaurants, lock the borders down
Save your outings only for essential trips to town
Break the chain of Covid, or words along those lines
And don’t forget we’re living in “unprecedented times”
Economic fallout, unemployment schemes
Pivoting and re-set, the shattering of dreams
Stay at home when you are sick, keep track of where you’ve been
Cough into your elbow, wash your hands to keep them clean
Our team of some five million stayed within their bubble
Only just a handful breaking out and causing trouble
We stayed on course, doubled down, locked in all the gains
Now we’re at a point where just a single case remains
As Level One approaches, however you’re inclined
We are all entitled to our thoughts, remember to be kind
Fingers crossed our lock down is drawing to a close
But the game is never over til the full-time whistle blows
Nice one, Claire!
