Firstly, thanks to Amanda at Walk a Myelin* My Shoes or nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Although I’ve had this blog up for a while, I’ve only recently actually started writing anything on it and updating it, so I’ll find some nominees myself this weekend and come up with some questions. I’m looking forward to connecting with more bloggers out there. I’m not even 100% sure I’m doing this right but I’ll give it a go …
What is your earliest memory?
Lying in bed in my home in Old Windsor and being petrified of a free standing electric heater that looked remarkably like the Doctor Who dalek I’d seen earlier on TV. I could have solved the problem simply by running down the stairs but my three-year-old brain hadn’t yet figured that out.
What is your most frightening memory? Not to get too intense, in honour of Halloween. 👹👺🤡👻💀🎃
Being woken at 4:35am on September 4th, 2010 by a shallow magnitude 7.1 earthquake centred close to my home near Christchurch, New Zealand.
What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
Extreme Ironing
What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
Not winning the lottery as it would have the potential to alter my down to earth demeanour and self-deprecating humour. I’ve always thought this has been something of a god-send.
Are you usually early or late?
Normally punctual. If I’m early, it either means I’m catching an overseas flight somewhere or I’ve totally misjudged my travel time. If I’m late, it either means I’m going to work or I’ve totally misjudged my travel time.
What pets did you have while you were growing up?
A budgie answering to the name of Perky who could speak in a variety of local English dialects ranging from my mother’s West Country drawl to my Dad’s Yorkshire accent.
Who inspires you to be better?
My kids
What was the best compliment you’ve received?
When I was in my twenties I visited a client who looked utterly stunned and said: “Oh my God! You’re off that TV series. I know who you are! Don’t tell me, it will come to me…” I wouldn’t have dared even try since I had no idea myself who she was referring to. I waited hopefully, wondering if it was some Hollywood mega-star but alas… it was a rather dreary shop owner from a locally produced NZ soap opera.
What is something that a ton of people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?
Where to begin? Reality TV shows, Pokemon, Lord of the Rings, Windows 8, Synchronised Swimming, One Direction, Pet Rocks, Donald Trump … I could go on for hours!
What’s something you’ve been meaning to try but just haven’t gotten around to?
Wine.
What’s the best thing that happened to you last week?
Well, getting nominated for this award of course 😉
PS. I lied about the wine.
My Nominees are: TBA
Love your work Claire 🙂
Hi just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same outcome.
